a blog about venice-Treviso airport

Although Marco Polo is the official Venice airport, many airlines land at Treviso - especially the low cost ones. This airport is small and a bit further away, but there are two coach services that meet all flights and go straight to Piazzale Roma, ATVO goes directly to Venice and the Barzi bus service goes to Venice via Mestre on the mainland side of the causeway.

You can buy your ticket at the airport, either one way or return. Remember to always validate your ticket on the machine as you get in the door of the bus.

The Treviso Airport website has a lot of information in English covering transport, hotels, etc.

Treviso itself is a beautiful Renaissance walled city which was once owned by Venice. It's a lovely place to explore on the way to or from Venice, and has good hotels if you decide to stay overnight.

  • Piazzale Roma: The square where all the buses stop in central Venice

  • ATVO: The bus company which will take you directly to Piazzale Roma

  • Barzi: The bus company which goes to Venice via Mestre on the mainland.
